Two Filipinos will represent the country in April at the Presidential Summit on Entrepreneurship to be hosted by US President Barack Obama in Washington, DC.

According to the US Embassy in Manila, Presidential Consultant on Entrepreneurship Jose Ma. “Joey” Concepcion III and Bai Sandra Basar had been invited to participate in the said Summit, which will be attended by representatives from more than 40 countries in five continents.

The Summit will be held from April 26 to 27 at the Ronald Reagan Bldg. in Washington, DC.

Bai Sandra Basar is a member of the Board of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM) Business Council and a member of the Mindanao Regional Development Council, particularly in Region 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN).

Concepcion, meanwhile, is a businessman, entrepreneurship consultant, and co-founder of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship, Inc. whose “Go Negosyo” movement instills optimism and business spirit among Filipino business people and entrepreneurs.

The Summit will highlight the role entrepreneurship can play in addressing common challenges while building partnerships that will lead to greater opportunity abroad and at home.

It will be recalled that President Obama announced during his speech in Cairo, Egypt last June 4, 2009 that the US Government would host a Summit on Entrepreneurship to identify how to deepen ties between business leaders, foundations, and entrepreneurs in the United States and Muslim communities around the world.

The US government is seeking “new beginnings” with Muslims around the world that is “based on mutual interest and mutual respect.”
