Singer-songwriter Jason Castro can add another gig to his resume: Wedding singer.

Before his Manila tour last March 18 to 21, the “American Idol” alum served as one of the singers (along with singer-songwriter Gavin de Graw) who serenaded “The Bachelor Season 13” couple Jason Mesnick and Molly Malaney during their wedding on March 8.

Jason, with a little help from his ukulele, performed “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”---a song he also sang on “AI”---while the bride walked down the aisle.

He next sang his first single ““That’s What I’m Here For,” off his forthcoming debut album. The lines, “And if you need someone just to be around / Help put the pieces back that you finally found / That's what I'm here for” are just fitting as the couple finished exchanging their vows and treaded the aisle as man and wife.

Jason himself tied the knot two months ago with his high school sweetheart, Mandy Mayhall. They danced along Etta James’ “At Last,” a thing that he and his wife had long dreamed of doing.

Now that they've walked down the aisle, is the dreadlock-haired idol ready to have babies with Mandy?

“I’d love to be a father someday, but not anytime soon,” a chuckling Jason told the local press at T.G.I. Friday’s Glorietta on March 19.

As of now, the crystalline-eyed musician is pretty content with getting inspiration from his wife.

“I've written a lot of songs about my wife. I write about a lot of things, too. You know the first song I’ve ever written was about her, five years ago. I tried to sing it to her on a night so cold I couldn’t even sing,” he recalled.

The 22-year old Texas native, from his stint on “AI Season 7, ”has remained laid-back as an artist. It's only now that he has become more comfortable doing media interviews.

“I like talking. I like answering questions. I like hanging out. Interviews [used to be] intimidating but not anymore,” he admitted.

His confidence in showing his goofy and carefree persona is evident in his five-track EP, “The Love Uncompromised,” particularly in the song, “Let’s Just Fall In Love Again.”

“It’s about everything that you love, even if it’s something you do, [be it] a job. Sometimes you reach a frustrating point but at that point you gotta stop and ask, ‘Why am I doing this? Why am I not just… crazy in love?’ It’s a carefree song and I think all of us should be carefree,” said he.

Although he only landed fourth place on "Idol," Jason’s EP has received rave reviews from critics, particularly from the New York Times, which described it as “among the most sure-footed records, debut or otherwise, by an 'Idol' contestant from any season.”

The EP, upon release last January, entered the Top 5 albums in iTunes.

Jason said his EP is a treat for his dedicated fans who have long been waiting to hear from him. The fans will hear more with the release of his full-length, eponymously titled debut album on April 13.
