BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan — A foreign businessman who has invested heavily in Urdaneta City was gunned down in an ambush that also wounded his driver last Wednesday afternoon in Barangay San Gabriel II, here.

Homicide probers identified the slain victim as Wugui Long, a Manila-based businessman, and his wounded driver as Alex Valeso.

Initial investigation showed that the van carrying the victims was on its way to Urdaneta City, where Long was supposed to inspect his business ventures, when a motorcycle tailed it along the provincial road here.

Suddenly, gunshots were fired from the direction of the two men riding-in-tandem on the motorcycle.
As Valeso lost control of the wheel, the motorcycle cruised alongside the van and more shots were fired, hitting Long and his driver.

The van ended up crashing into the shoulder of the road as the assailants fled to an unknown direction.
Concerned residents rushed both victims to the hospital where Long was pronounced dead on arrival. Valeso, on the other, hand was in critical condition.

The Scene-of-the-Crime Operations (SOCO) team lifted 10 bullet casings for a .45-caliber pistol, the only clues so far to the identity of the killers.
