Genuino, Salvador lead Makati proclamation rally

The Bigkis Pinoy Party, an accredited national political party by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) held its proclamation rally for 2010 Makati City mayoral bet lawyer-educator Erwin ‘Win’ C. Genuino and civic leader Jobelle Salvador, their congressional and city council and candidates near the Philippines Racing Commision (PRC) in Makati City’s first district, last Friday and turned out the biggest local election rally held ever in the city.

“This was, so far, the biggest election campaign rally I have ever witnessed and attended in my more than 20 years in Makati politics,” said lawyer Oscar Ibay, a three-time city councilor in Makati and presently the Bigkis Pinoy’s official candidate, for Makati’s first congressional district.

Ibay at the proclamation rally told some attending 25,000 Makati folks, majority of whom voters from the youth, senior citizens,’ professional, business and civic groups, that with the poll automation law that that the May 10 elections will be a celebrated part of the country’s political history on the fight of suffrage, because with this law, if strictly implemented, “cheatings of election frauds will have no place.”

Genuino called on Makati residents to be “vigilant” in exercising their right of suffrage, stressing that the forthcoming election day is the day when we are all equal and we are all the masters of our conscience, mind and heart.’ "We must take advantage of this constitutional right and never allow the cheaters to grab away this tight from us”.

Genuino stressed that “when we are inside the voting booth, there is nobody to dictate to us, it is God and ourselves without fear of being dictated by anyone in choosing the best people to be in the reigns of government.”

Salvador, daughter of the late nationally acclaimed movie director and actor Leroy Salvador, anchored herself to city voters on the role of women in governance and community service and development. She vowed to lead in protecting women's rights in the city governance and in the private sector.

“A collective undertaking by women, both in the government and in the private sectors, will certainly contribute but a lot to the success of public administration,” she pointed out.

Ibay’s observation was confirmed by other Makati political leaders including Bigkis Pinoy second district congressional bet Christian Montes, and all of the party’s city council bets in both first and second district, barangay, purok and ward leaders, civic and business groups who witnessed the proclamation.
