CEBU CITY — One Cebu Party’s endorsement of the presidential bid of former defense chief Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. will rub off to voters of Bohol and many Visayan-speaking provinces in the country.

This was the optimistic belief of One Cebu leaders who lauded the decision of officials of the biggest and most influential political party in Cebu province to back the candidacy of Teodoro.

Teodoro led a mixed line up of national candidates who won the endorsement of One Cebu whose top leadership cited the Lakas-Kampi-CMD presidential bet for running a highly level and positive campaign for the presidency.

“Like us here in One Cebu, I am convinced Visayan-speaking areas outside Cebu will also go for Teodoro,” said Rep. Benhur Salimbangon.

In response to the endorsement of One Cebu headed by Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia, Teodoro said he could only repay the trust given him with a sincere and honest government that would emphasize on unity among all Filipinos despite varying political beliefs.

Teodoro said he has also drawn up for the Visayas region a program of government that would put on priority energy, food security and tourism. “Una na ang power sa buong Visayas, secondly food security then tourism services,” the former defense secretary told reporters when asked about his program for the Visayas.

He said another runway for the Mactan International Airport should also be constructed. “You have to support the agricultural sector in Bohol which is the biggest producer of food, to bring down the price of food here in Cebu,” Teodoro said.
