The Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) is tapping the expertise of the Philippine Center for Sports Medicine (PCSM) in the country’s preparations for the 2010 Asian Games in China.

While the PSC had previously worked hand in hand with the PCSM, the new tie-up aims to address all the aspects of training, including nutrition.

Dr. Alex Pineda of the PCSM is scheduled to meet with PSC chairman Harry Angping today to discuss what he termed as the Comprehensive Athletes Monitoring Program (Camp).

Angping is putting emphasis on diet, revealing sometime ago that he intends to come up with a nutritional program for every sport “because the dietary requirement for one sport is not necessarily good for another sport.”

“We all know that proper training is key to success but we also have to take into account an athlete’s nutrition,” said Angping. “He or she should be eating the right food.”

Only those nominated by the PSC to the elite roster of athletes will be put under the program being crafted by the PCSM.
