Much talk about nothing with Lovi Poe
Not once did the name Ronald Singson figure in the conversation, let alone about their rumored shopping spree at the Waldorf Hotel in New York City early this month.
In fact, singer-actress Lovi Poe played the mysterious one when asked if she’s in romance with him or any other guy.
“Meron ba? I don’t know...alam n’yo na naman ‘yon,” was her vague answer to Manila Bulletin during the taping of GMA-7’s Sunday musical variety show, “Party Pilipinas.”
Yet for someone who claims to not “know” if she has a special someone, Lovi sure gave a definite answer to such a generic question as “What can you say to your critics?”
“The people around me, the people who matter to me...alam nila 'yong totoo sa hindi. 'Yong mga binabato ng tao sa akin, okay lang 'yan. Kahit madaanan ko sila, I know I can look straight into their eyes kasi alam kong wala akong ginawang pangit sa kanila.
“'Di ko lang alam kung makakatingin sila ng diretso sa akin.”
For weeks now, tinseltown has been ablazed with news of supposed sightings of Lovi and Chavit Singson’s son together. The pairing wouldn’t have raised an eyebrow if not for a speckle of ill talk: that Lovi, according to speculations, is the classic “Bilmoko Girl” (coloquial term for gold digger).
In an earlier interview with Philippine Entertainment Portal, Lovi squashed the charge by pointing out that she is not the type who goes after guys and befriends them, not one to ask for anything from her suitors, and more importantly, not about to start pleasing everyone.
However, the subject wasn’t even brought up during our interview. Instead, we talked about happiness---well, sort of.
“Basta kung masaya sila, ipagpatuloy na lang nila. Ako, masaya ako na walang tinatapakan na tao,” she said.
Doesn’t silence mean yes?
“Silence could mean a lot of [things]. Ang iniisip ko na lang, 'yong dad (the late Fernando Poe Jr.) ko, kahit ano’ng binato sa kaniya dati, nirespeto pa din siya ng tao. I’m thankful that my dad left me that legacy---at ayokong masira 'yong Dad ko.”
Lovi said people will know instantly if she is in love because she will say so categorically.
“Nothing in this world is permanent---everything changes. Right now, I’m just savoring the moment. Basta, everything is falling into place.”
