'Gibo' resumes campaign in Metro, Bicol
After finding himself recently in the “eye of the storm” following his sudden resignation as chairman of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD that triggered controversies in the political scene, administration party standard bearer Gilberto “Gibo” Teodoro Jr. will again hit the campaign trail starting on Sunday in Metro Manila and Bicol region with his efforts mainly focused on winning the presidential race.
Team Gibo Media Bureau said the 45-year-old Teodoro will join the traditional “Salubong” of the El Shaddai Movement led by Bro. Mike Velarde in Amvel City in Parañaque City at 1 a.m. on Sunday in a bid to get the support of one of the country’s largest religious organizations.
A moment of joy and celebration among the Filipino Catholics, “Salubong” commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ after He was crucified and died on the cross on Good Friday.
During election season, El Shaddai leaders traditionally invite candidates seeking elective positions in the national level to attend their prayer gatherings.
On Monday, Teodoro will fly to Legaspi City Airport where he will start a motorcade to Tabacco City in a bid to get support from the vote-rich Bicolandia.
Rep. Edcel Lagman of the 1st District of Albay along with his daughter, Mayor Krisel Lagman-Luistro, will host a grand rally for Teodoro and other Lakas-Kampi- CMD candidates at the Tabacco City Capitol Center at 10 a.m.
From Tabacco City where he will also join the Lagman family in the nearby Bacacay town for a lunch meeting, Teodoro will motor back to Legaspi City to attend a convention hosted by the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) at the Albay Astrodome. A bar top notcher and a Harvard trained lawyer, Teodoro himself is an IBP member.
Later, he along with other members of the Lakas-Kampi-CMD slate with join the Magayon Festival, a colorful annual celebration of Albay province’s rich history and cultural heritage highlighted by street dancing and grand parade.
According to Albay tourism officer Jose Briones, Teodoro was invited as guest of honor and speaker in the opening ceremonies of the Magayon Festival which drew some 235,000 local and foreign guests last year.
After attending the Magayon celebration, Teodoro will attend the Pentecostal Church Assembly in Imus, Cavite after which he will meet will barangay leaders of the town that was organized by Lawyer Albert Villaseca, Lakas- Kampi-CMD congressional candidate for the 3rd district of Cavite.
On Tuesday, Teodoro and his political team will fly to the remote area of Sipocot in Camarines Sur to meet with another group of local leaders at the Sipocot Municipal Hall. The meeting was reportedly arranged by former budget secretary Andaya.
Teodoro will later move to Libmanan, Camarines Sur where he will be met by presidential son Rep. Dato Arroyo (2nd District, Camarines Sur) who was reportedly planning to hold a grand rally at the Central Grandstand in Iriga City.
