Partners re-elect ACCRALAW top officers

During the recent Partner’s Meeting of the Law Firm of Angara Abello Concepcion Regala & Cruz Law Offices (ACCRALAW), Eusebio V. Tan and Teresita J. Herbosa were re-elected to the positions of Managing Partner and Co-Managing Partner, respectively.

Eusebio V. Tan and Teresita J. Herbosa were re-elected to the positions of Managing Partner and Co-Managing Partner, respectively.advised senior managements, boards of directors, independent committees of boards, and major stock holders of both public and private corporations on strategies to be applied in major transactions and projects and in the implementation thereof. He has represented international and domestic banks (lenders) and various corporations (as borrowers) in major loan transactions. He acts as Corporate Secretary and, in certain cases, also as a member of the Board of Directors, of several large corporations. He has advised clients in connection with large construction projects and build-operate-transfer undertakings. He led teams that obtained full banking licenses for major foreign banks, under the Foreign Banks Liberalization Law of the Philippines (R.A. No. 7721). He has advised on numerous joint venture projects involving foreign investors and Philippine joint venture partners. He has been invited as a speaker in numerous international fora and has published papers, dissertations, and articles.

Mr. Tan obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree, major in Economics, summa cum laude, through the Liberal Arts Accelerated Honors Program of De La Salle University in 1971 and was awarded the General Excellence Gold Medal and the Dr. Jose Rizal Honor Society ring. He obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the Ateneo de Manila University of Law in 1975 and was awarded the Second Honors Silver Medal. He obtained his Master of Laws degree from the Columbia University School of Law in 1979. He is an active member if the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, the Philippine Bar Association and the International Bar Association, the Inter-Pacific Bar Association, the ASEAN Law Association, LAWASIA, the Makati Business Club, and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines. He is the newly elected president of the Management Association of the Philippines and is a member of the Board of Directors of MERITAS, a worldwide network of independent law firms composed of over 6,000 lawyers in approximately 70 countries. He represents ACCRALAW in various professional and trade associations and chambers of commerce, both locally and abroad, and is a director-elect of the Rotary Club of Manila.

Teresita J. Herbosa is with the Firm’s litigation department, which has been consistently recognized worldwide as the best in the country and which she headed from 1993 to 2003. She actively handles litigation cases, whether civil, criminal or administrative, before Philippine Courts. Her areas of specialization include telecommunications, family law, land and air transportation, contract law, government contacts, public bidding and award, constitutional law, and environmental law. She has handled various cases before international and domestic arbitral tribunals and has orally argued before the Supreme Court several times. She was directly involved in cases where the Supreme Court laid down significant rulings, including those on the revival of a judgment, the exercise of discretion in the acceptance or refusal of bids, the computation of the redemption period, the obligations of an independent contractor, the meaning of devaluation, the scope of the pre-trial stage in a criminal proceeding, the right to vote sequestered shares of stock, the nature of a unilateral promise to sell, and the liability of a joint tortfeasor. She has been cited by worldwide legal publications as one of the top litigation lawyers of the Philippines.

Ms. Herbosa graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Arts degree, cum laude, and a Bachelor of Laws degree, cum laude. She obtained her Master of Comparative Law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1980. She has held positions in various legal and professional organizations and is a professional lecturer on remedial law at the College of Law of the University of the Philippines.

At the same Partners’ Meeting, it was announced that four lawyers were admitted to the Partnership: Neptali B. Salvanera, Victor N. De Leon, Patricia Kay T. Clemente and Chrysilla Carissa P. Bautista. Eduardo V. Soleng, Jr. was promoted to the position of Senior Associate.
