Supporters of Manila Mayor Alfredo Lim and former Environment secretary Lito Atienza once again figured in a brawl over campaign posters in Pandacan District which left two persons hurt before dawn Tuesday.

Injured were Roldan de Guzman, 37, of 231-C Beltran Street, Balut, Tondo in Manila and Mark Gil, 24, of 186 Beltran Street, Tondo Manila, who were both supporters of Lim.

Authorities also rounded up 12 of the 30 alleged supporters of Atienza who reportedly started the supposed early morning clash.

Insp. Marcelo Reyes, chief of the Manila Police District – General Assignment Section (MPD-GAS), identified the arrested supporters of Atienza as Perlito Paler, 29; Aaron Paul de la Cruz, 22; Geraldo Macahasa, 25; John Dave Peralta, 18; Arman Dulay, 26; Mark Corea, 19; Eduard Ramos, 22; Andre Medina, 18; Benjamin Santos, 25; Eric Bautista, 33; Al Casimiro, 22; and Jomar Ramos, 19.

“According to the complainants, there were at least more than 20 people who were able to scamper away after the violent melee. We are hunting them down to shed light on the incident,” Reyes said.

An investigation made by Police Officer 3 Abelardo Aguilar of the MPD-GAS section showed that the clash between the supporters of two mayoralty bets happened on Quirino Highway near Plaza Dilao, Paco in Manila at around 2:30 a.m.

The group of Lim's supporters was reportedly putting up campaign posters in the area when five multi-cab vehicles, carrying at least 30 supporters of Atienza, arrived in the area.

Allegedly, some supporters of Atienza hurled rocks at them for pasting the posters of Lim on the walls located on the side-skirts of Quirino Highway.

“Bago nila kami batuhin ng bato sinabi pa nung isa na bawal daw kami maglagay ng posters ni Lim kasi teritoryo daw iyon ni Atienza,” De Guzman said, at the office of MPD-GAS section.
