Bayan Muna partylist has called on all presidential and vice presidential candidates to reveal their concrete programs to free workers and farmers from poverty.

Lawyer Joven Laura, Bayan Muna’s third nominee, challenged all the aspirants to show in black and white what they intend to do to release millions of Filipinos from penury.

“Every candidate is claiming they are for the poor. Since majority of the poor population are farmers and workers, we challenge all of them to present their program for the farmers and the workers,” Laura said.

“For the farmers and the workers and the rest of the poor population, particularly the urban poor and fisherfolk, they have yet to know just how sincere these candidates are in battling crippling poverty,” he added.

At this point, he argued, millions of Filipinos are not satisfied with motherhood statements and empty promises.

“They still have to make a wise choice for the coming elections. They must know who among the candidates who will do something about their sorry conditions and the oppression that continues everyday. Presidential and vice presidential candidates who are sincerely for the poor should take this seriously,” Laura argued.

Laura advised presidential aspirants that farmers, workers, the urban poor, fisherfolk and other poor social sectors are still to hear any comprehensive plan against poverty from those who wish to take over Malacañang on June 30.
