The war between Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Q. Pimentel Jr. and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) over the safety of Turkish flour that has found its way to food tables of Filipinos rages on.

This came as Pimentel asked the FDA to explain how it came to a conclusion that Turkish flour are free from mycotoxins when the samples used by the FDA were submitted by Turkish flour suppliers.

Pimentel thus riddled with holes the result of the tests conducted by the FDA, saying “it raised more questions than answers.”

“Definitely, I am not eating pandesal made from Turkish flour anytime soon. Not when this test by the FDA had been tainted just like the very product it sought to put under the microscope,” said Pimentel.

Pimentel, a former Senate President, wondered why the Department of Health (DoH) released the FDA result only last Tuesday when it apparently gave the Turkish Embassy in Manila an advance copy of the same.
