Talk of power supply woes in street language – Mitra
“It’s about time we talk about power issues in street language,’’ Nacionalista Party senatoriable, Ramon “Mon-Mon’’ Mitra, Wednesday said of the problem of power shortage.
Mitra said the power problem is being politicized that government officials are wary of telling the real score and one way to avoid this is to explain the real story of how we got to where we are today in terms of power supply sufficiency, or lack of it.
“Time to use street language and let the Filipinos know what power plants we have running, what we have mothballed, what are in the pipeline, what megawatts we have, how much we need, how much we lack, what solutions we have waiting in the pipeline or waiting to be implemented,’’ Mitra urged.
Mitra, a former director of the Philippine National Oil Company, who has worked in various government projects seeking alternatives to conventional source of energy, is running with a platform of governance focused mainly on providing cheap electricity, modernized agriculture and peace and order.
Mitra said he thinks politicians tend to shy away from the real problems of power supply because of fear they will lose voters if they admit the true reasons behind the power shortages. “But we have to explain the situation in details. We have to have an audit so the people will stop speculating and we have to be transparent about the money involved,’’ Mitra said.
