"I have accepted his sorry."

This was Filipino boxer Manny Pacquiao’s short statement after being informed that little known American comedian Adam Carolla has asked for his forgiveness via Twitter.

Recall that a few days ago, Carolla verbally attacked the boxer during a live radio interview calling him "idiot," "illiterate," and "brain damaged."

He also commented on the Philippines having nothing more but just the boxer and “sex tours.”

“They got this and sex tours, that’s all they have over there. Get your [expletive] together Philippines. Jesus Christ. I mean, again, it’s fine to be proud of your countrymen. But that’s it? That’s all you got?”

In a TV interview, Pacquiao urged his fans and the media to desist from further fanning the non-issue.

Carolla’s attack on Pacquiao apparently stemmed from the latters’ refusal to undergo Olympic-style drug testing as demanded by undefeated American fighter Floyd Mayweather, Jr.

“Pacquiao doesn’t believe, he says, he doesn’t give blood the month of a fight or a week before a fight because somehow it’s gonna weaken him and what have you,” he said.

“…What the [expletive] are you talking about? Give your drop of blood. That’s not going to make a difference.”

Carolla admits he “crossed the line.”

His full apology read:

“Read your comments. Sorry if I offended many of u. I don't preplan my commentary. I try to be provocative, funny but I crossed the line & I’m sorry.

“By the way, I think Manny is a great fighter."

Though the informal apology seem enough for Pacquiao, who is currently busy campaigning for a congressional seat in his district, there are those who want more from Carolla among them doctor Kevin Nadal.

Recall that the author and psychologist defended the Filipino community against racial slurs before, having led protests against ABC in 2007 after the network’s hit show Desperate Housewives made a slanderous comment about the Philippines’ medical diplomas.

ABC apologized and made amends after the snafu.

According to Nadal, Carolla should apologize verbally and let Filipinos hear him say it “in his own voice.”

We need to fight every time and anytime someone does anything that’s unjust or anything that is discriminatory towards our community,” Nadal said in an interview with ABS-CBN’s North American News Bureau.
