Former actor and presidential son, Pampanga representative Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo has taken a swipe at what he termed as Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III’s “politics of hatred.”

In a recent interview, Arroyo criticized the presidential bet for using his family’s name in campaign efforts, particularly that of his father, First Gentleman Mike Arroyo.

“Please be sensitive enough and leave my ailing father alone. Just let him recover in peace. He is not the issue here,” said the younger Arroyo.

The First Gentleman had just been discharged from the St. Luke's Medical Center in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors found a new tear in his aorta.

Arroyo told reporters that his father is yet fully recovered and needs more rest. He added that his father was advised by doctors to refrain from engaging in "highly charged" activities.

"Definitely, the doctors are not allowing him to get involved in any political activity," he said.

According to Arroyo, Aquino should stop railing against his family but rather start answering questions concerning Hacienda Luisita and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway.

Aquino is known to have been promising that one of his first acts as president would be to create a commission that would investigate all the issues concerning President  Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo and the First Family.

Arroyo expressed fear that if Aquino would win, he will only eventually rule with prejudice.

“I am inclined to believe that if he wins, he would not only go after his perceived opponents based on his definition of good and evil, but he may well move to have the Bible and dictionary rewritten to suit his personality and interests.”

Meanwhile, Arroyo expressed nonchalance concerning critics asking for his disqualification as nominee of the party-list group Ang Galing Pinoy, which professes to represent security guards and tricycle drivers.

“Most of those who keep on criticizing [my nominations] are people from the opposition. I’m not surprised.”

Asked if he is planning to renege on his candidacy, Arroyo merely replied, “That is for the party-list hierarchy to decide.”
