Remulla bares legislative agenda
Nacionalista Party spokesman and senatorial bet Gilbert Remulla Thursday cited several serious problems of the country which would be the subject of his legislative agenda.
He said that poverty is still the biggest problem, adding that well-entrenched corruption in government has been depriving the poor and ordinary citizens opportunities to cross over their marginalized situations.
The young senatorial bet, who has just joined the “Magic 12” among the senatorial bets, stressed that agricultural development must be improved along with the educational system in the country. He decried the fact that the country has still a shortage of no less than 60,000 classrooms , when in fact this could have been solved if the government had really attended to it.
He urged a massive investment in agriculture and education. “With much improved development of agriculture as well as modernizing the school system especially in terms of IT facilities and infrastructure, we could solve much of the poverty problems,” the NP spokesman said.
Remulla also warned that taking for granted the environment is a dangerous attitude. “There are so many laws which have been passed on environment, but nothing is being implemented,” he decried.
“We have the Clean Air Act, the Clean Water Act and so many other related laws, but none of these have been implemented. If the environment fails, all of us will be dangerously affected, and all aspects of development!”
Remulla has also been promoting livelihood and employment through the Small-Medium Enterprises and microfinancing to fight poverty in the country.
