Bigkis Pinoy holds rally in Pasay City
Thousands of Pasay City residents recently showed their desire to have a meaningful political change in their locality after they trooped to the proclamation rally of the Bigkis Pinoy Party whose mayoral bet is former police officer Ricardo “Ding” Santos. The residents, estimated to have reached more than 50,000 at the peak of the proclamation rally, were composed of simple folks as well representatives from the more organized sectors of non-government organizations, the religious, youth as well as senior citizens.
The mayoral post is being contested by incumbent Mayor Wenceslao “Peewee” Trinidad, incumbent Vice-Mayor Antonino “Tony” Calixto, former congresswoman Consuelo Dy and former police captain Santos.
Of the four, Santos is the only who has not yet held a high local position but plunged himself to the electoral fight after a clamor for him to run. Among his traits which endeared him to the residents is his humility as shown by his support to whoever is holding the levers of power in the city. He was also praised for having no allegations of corruption in the long years that he served the city as a police officer.
