Loren: NPC should campaign for NP bets
DAVAO CITY — Nacionalista Party-Nationalist People’s Coalition (NP-NCP) vice presidential bet Loren B. Legarda on Wednesday reminded party mates that their recently approved tie-up with the NP would mean something.
“They have to endorse not only me but Sen. Manuel Villar,” Legarda told reporters during her campaign sortie here Wednesday.
The Commission on Elections has approved on Tuesday the tie-up of the NP and the NPC.
NPC has only three candidates running in the national elections, including senatorial candidates Agusan del Sur Rep. Rodolfo “Ompong” Plaza and Sen. Vicente “Tito” Sotto III.
But Plaza had earlier tied-up with the slate of Pwersa ng Masang Pilipino (PMP)-PDP Laban as guest candidate. With this set-up, with NPC having no presidential candidate, the Agusan del Sur representative said he would be endorsing Estrada as president.
The ticket of Estrada has Makati Mayor Jejomar C. Binay as vice presidential bet.
“He is the only candidate that has a clear platform for agriculture – especially in Mindanao,” he said during the “Hot Seat” segment of ABS-CBN’s “Bandila.”
