In a seeming effort to appease the public, the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc. (BPCI) recently announced that it will allow the reinstatement of dethroned 2010 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe Maria Venus Raj—but with condition.

In a statement released Saturday, BPCI announced that they are giving Raj another chance to reclaim her crown "for humanitarian reasons;" that is, if the beauty queen would be able to secure "a valid Philippine passport."

"We have reassessed the situation pertaining to Miss Maria Venus Raj and have decided, for humanitarian reasons, that if she is able to obtain a valid Philippine passport, we will reinstate her as the reigning Bb Pilipinas-Universe," the statement read.

Not a few Netizens have mocked the statement calling it a "sham" and "too little too late."

In an interview with GMA's “Startalk,” where she appeared as guest on Saturday, April 10, Raj said she was thankful for the seeming reversal of the decision.

"Well, I am thankful, first of all to Binibining Pilipinas Charities but, yes, I was already informed about the matter through a phone call earlier today," she said in Filipino. "What I plan to do is visit [the BPCI offices] to clear the matter personally...to hear from them and know exactly what they mean with the conditions they set."

According to Raj, the new condition set by the BPCI is "confusing," especially because it ran against BPCI's first statement pertaining to the whole hullabaloo being merely caused by "inconsistencies" in her birth certificate; she was subsequently cited for "misrepresentation."
