IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay – Former Zamboanga del Norte Rep. Romeo G. Jalosjos, Sr. through his two sons Rommel and Junior, has encroached into adjacent Zamboanga Sibugay to challenge the political supremacy of Gov. George T. Hofer and his children in the new province of Western Mindanao.

Jalosjos, who was released last year from the New Bilibid Prison after being pardoned by President Arroyo, fielded recently Rommel, incumbent town mayor of Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte, and Junior to aspire for the second congressional seat and governorship, respectively, of the nine-year-old province in the May 10 elections.

Rommel, incumbent town mayor of Tampilisan, Zamboanga del Norte, and Junior (who had long renounced his Australian citizenship), were able to earlier secure residency in Ipil, according to lawyer Richard Rambuyong, their legal counsel

Zamboanga Sibugay, it is recalled, was created through a legislative bill authored by then Rep. Hofer who later was elected governor after sitting as congressman for three terms. His daughter Dulce Ann replaced him in the Lower House.
