LTO: No plans to implement RFID
The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has no plans to implement the controversial Radio Frequency Identification Device (RFID), LTO Chief Alberto Suansing said Monday.
Suansing issued the statement when asked on the implementation of the RFID which was first employed by former LTO chief Arturo Lomibao but was suddenly stopped due to various oppositions from different sectors.
The LTO chief said that he will leave the matter to the Supreme Court and will just follow whatever directives the High Court will issue.
“Di pa natin ipapatupad yan, hanggat walang utos ang Supreme Court,” Suansing said. (We will not implement it until we receive an order from the Supreme Court.)
"It would be recalled that the SC directed the LTO to stop the implementation of RFID granting the request of temporary restraining order (TRO) filed by Piston, Bayan Muna and Gabriella which called the project illegal. (LTO)
