Actor Rayver Cruz is consistent in his denial that he and pop star Sarah Geronimo are an item so they could never have called it quits as sweethearts.

“Hindi naman dumating sa punto na naging kami. Hindi dumating sa punto na talagang nanligaw ako so malabong maging kami,” was his initial reaction during a taped interview on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” April 14.

The actor is amused at the break-up rumor.

“Natatawa ako doon kasi paano kami magbi-break,eh, hindi naman naging kami. Lagi ko naman sinasabi na friends lang talaga kami ni Sarah. Nakatuwa lang kasi pinangungunahan lang ng iba na kami na, na nag-break na. Hindi puwedeng maging kami,” he said.

He is aware that Sarah is not available to entertain suitors at this time.

“In the first place naman kasi, busy siya eh. Alam naman natin na hindi pa talaga puwede so respetuhin na lang natin.”

Rumors also have it that Sarah’s Mommy Divine was very much against her daughter’s getting into a relationship with Rayver. The actor, in defense of Sarah’s mom, said he knows where she’s coming from.

“Siyempre, natural lang siguro ‘yon dahil magulang sila. Ang mga magulang [ay] overprotective sa anak lalo na sa case ni Sarah. [Kung ako, ] siyempre, aalamin ko muna kung sino ang poporma sa anak ko, ‘di ba?”

Last year, rumors of Sarah and Rayver being in a relationship surfaced in gossip columns. The young couple seemed to be able to continue with their clandestine romance, as Mommy Divine was very much against the relationship.

It was also rumored then that Sarah and Rayver’s young romance was discovered by the pop star’s father Jun Geronimo.

Allegedly, Daddy Jun accidentally discovered his daughter’s relationship when he chanced upon her chatting with the actor in the wee hours of the morning. Sarah was reportedly told by her father to stop her romance with the young actor… purportedly leading them to end it.
