BJMP-P’que presents its public charter
The Parañaque Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Thursday presented its Citizen’s Charter (Anti-Red Tape) as part of its effort to streamline its organizational structure as well as prevent corruption in the workplace.
The creation of the Charter is part of the BJMP’s efforts to support the national government’s program to fight graft and corruption in public service which is being spearheaded by the Civil Service Commission and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
At a forum Thursday, the BJMP presented its Charter in the form of guidelines and procedures that covers the city BJMP’s workplace which will ensure that no unlawful activities occur inside the jail and that all personnel as well as visitors and inmates comply with the new procedures that are in the new charter.
Parañaque Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. said that the development of a Citizens’ Charter is a big step in preventing graft and corruption from entering government institutions.
“Corruption cannot be allowed to seep in the workplace and if it does, people will lose confidence in the system as well as its implementers – the public servants,” Bernabe said.
The Parañaque BJMP is under the supervision of Warden J/Supt. Daniel Dequitos, Jr. while the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-Parañaque Office is headed by City Dir. Teresita Fababeir.
