FEU tops Xavier in FCBL tilt
Far Eastern University overpowered Xavier School, 84-69, for its first win in the 3rd Freego Filipino-Chinese Basketball League (FCBL) Cup at the Philippine Buddhacare Gym in Quezon City.
Leading by just five points at halftime, the Baby Tamaraws, with Aaron Fabian at the helm, unloaded a barrage of baskets at the start of the third on the way to their first win in the event supported by Smart Communications.
Fabian finished with a team-high 21 points to bag the Freego Best Player of the Game honor. He was supported by Jetrix Rono (18 points), Mico Custodio (14) and Mark Tanoy (10).
Jeron Teng, son of ex-PBA forward Alvin, netted 25 points for Xavier in the event supported by Mighty Sports, ENERGEN, Colt Commercial, Star Galaxy Industrial Fabricator Inc., Powerbest Marketing Inc., Mandarin Sky Seafood & Shabu-Shabu Restaurant, Multimotors Auto Part Inc. and Apple Tape.
In other games, Mapua tripped University of Santo Tomas, 78-76, while Ateneo outlasted Chiang Kai Shek College, 77-76.
