NPD readying for polls

Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao Jr., Northern Police District Director, Friday said plans and preparations are under way to secure and assure a peaceful elections on May 10 in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela (Camanava) area.

This, as the District Joint Security Control Center (DJSCC) led by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and the Department of Education (DepEd) divisions superintendents in Camanava area are orting-out possible security-related problems that may arise from the delivery of the Precinct Count Optical Scanner (PCOS) machines on May 4 up to the day of the elections on May 10.

During the third meeting of the JSCC in Camanava, the NPD said that the 1,197 police personnel to be deployed by the NPD will be augmented by two companies of soldiers from the National Capital Region Command (NCRCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines and some policemen that will be coming from the Regional Headquarters in Bicutan, Taguig and from the National Headquarters in Camp  Crame.

All the chiefs-of-police in his jurisdiction, who were present during the meeting were directed to draw up plans applicable to their own level to prevent any form of delay in the transport of election paraphernalia and other accountable forms from the Treasurer's Office of each city to the polling precincts.

He said the police must see to it that the plan must conform within the 24-hour time frame before the elections.
