Villar: Will not spare anybody from graft charges
Nacionalista Party standard bearer Senator Manny Villar said Saturday that contrary to the claim of the Liberal Party (LP), he will not spare President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in his all-out campaign against graft and corruption in case he wins in the May 2010 presidential elections.
“Yes, anybody. We will run after all those who are corrupt and had been corrupt,” Villar told ANC's "Headstart" in an interview recently.
Villar reiterated there will be no compromise in his pursuit to stamp out corruption that is being blamed for the loss of more than one-third of the country's annual budget.
To prove his no nonsense drive against graft and corruption, Villar said he will even encourage the prosecution of President Arroyo who has been implicated in several anomalies during her term of office.
He gave Arroyo a rate of “4” in terms of honesty and brushed aside allegations that he never criticized the President.
“Napakaraming beses ko nang binira ang Presidente,” (I have criticized President Arroyo for so many times), said Villar. In fact he said it was he and NP lawmakers who initiated the investigation into the NBN-ZTE scandal, the Hello Garci controversy, and jueteng.
