KIM CHIU contemplates birthday cake.

While Kim Chui is elated over the success of the concert series she had in the US with her love team partner Gerald Anderson and heartthrobs Piolo Pascual and Sam Milby, the victory is somewhat marred by gossip that spread about her and Gerald.

Rumor has it that Kim and Gerald were late for their show in New York because they spent time together in a room. They were even supposedly caught kissing in a fire exit.

“Those were super over-acting news!” Kim protested. “We were late because Gerald helped me shop before our show. And why should we kiss in a fire exit? Yuck. That’s embarrassing.”

Kim, who turns 20 today, wishes to achieve a sense of “maturity” in her showbiz career and her personal life. But while this is the case, this doesn’t mean she’ll now do everything and anything that adults do.

Kim said she doesn’t want to engage in pre-marital sex. She wants to keep her integrity and dignity intact.

“I don’t like premarital sex or even live-in arrangements,” expressed Kim in Filipino. “20 is still a young age for premarital sex... self-control is very important too so you won’t fail when you’re first tested with it. Otherwise you’d regret it and its consequences.”

Accidental pregnancy is out of the question for Kim, so with getting married because of it. The actress revealed that she is still single – from the time she became the first winner of the “Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition” in 2006 until today.

Although she enjoys having a close relationship with Gerald, Kim said she shuns the idea of getting into a committed boyfriend-girlfriend relationship with him – this, even if there is clamor among Kimerald fanatics for them to be a “real item.”

“I don’t want to be tied up in a relationship right now. We’re still young and I believe that we should do whatever we want, text whoever we want and be free to do anything we want,” stressed Kim.

And while in some quarters it seems to be a norm among her age group, Kim does not think herself unusual for rejecting pre-marital sex.

“No. [Those who engage in pre-marital sex are] probably the… ‘hot people.’ They’re probably the ones who itch for premarital sex,” Kim giggled.

Kim dismissed the notion that a “sexual experience” is a prerequisite to becoming a better actress.

“That’s a dreadful thought,” Kim jested. “I’m not going to be a bold star so I don’t need to have a sexual experience. I believe that what I have gone through in life is enough to make me a deeper and better actress. I don’t need sex to be one!”

And with the personal limitations she has imposed upon herself, Kim nevertheless prays that her showbiz success would continue. “I really love what I’m doing and if you love what you’re doing, everything you do feels like an achievement. I want to win a Best Actress award someday,” she shared.

While waiting for that time to come, Kim thinks of other worthwhile pursuits. As the lovely young lady celebrates her birthday today, April 19, she has said that she’d like nothing better than to spend a day at the Dr. Jose Fabella Memorial Hospital. Kim read a magazine article about the hospital having a shortage in milk and vitamin supplements among others and as such she’s donating some through her earnings.

“I want to share my blessings this way. I believe that babies should be given the best care possible,” she said.
