For Angel Locsin’s 20th birthday celebration, ertswhile sweetheart Luis Manzano gave her a simple gadget as a gift.

This Luis revealed in his taped interview aired on “Showbiz News Ngayon” last April 26.

“Very simple lang ang ibinigay namin sa isa’t isa. Kasi siyempre mahirap magregalo ng isang mamahaling bagay na hindi na kayo. Especially Angel, knowing her character, maiilang ‘yon,” said the “Entertainment Live” host.

The gift was all of simplicity and practicality.

“It’s something we needed. It’s something very, very simple. Doon pumapasok ‘yong sinasabing it’s the thought that counts. It’s a gadget, ‘yon lang,” Luis said, refusing to reveal more details.

Luis was conspicuously absent during Angel’s birthday celebration at her bar, Fuel Up, and this spelled intrigue. More so when Parokya ni Edgar frontman, long rumored to be courting Angel, was seen partying with the actress.

But the TV host-actor seemed unperturbed by speculations linking his ex-girlfriend with the singer.

“Barkada kasi sila. Siguro magtaka tayo kung silang dalawa lang at nagho-holding hands sila. Kung sino man ‘yong nakabarkada niya na nakakasama ko rin ay nandu’n,” he said.

Vilma Santos and Edu Manzano’s son is still in the process of winning back Angel. He’s not rushing things, though.

“I’m still trying to mend things. Whether it be a long way to go or ano, only time (can tell). We’re enjoying everything at a very steady pace.”

Meanwhile, in the same SNN episode, Angel expressed excitement over her new TV show, which will pair her up with actor John Lloyd Cruz.

“Excited ako kasi, para sa akin, mysterious si John Lloyd e. Ang dami kong gustong malaman tungkol sa kanya. Actually, one year kong hinintay si John  Lloyd,” she said.

The actress is doubly excited over her return to martial arts, as part of the training needed for a few action scenes for her new show.

“Ngayon tina-try kong bumalik sa martials arts kasi ang tagal kong hindi gumawa ng fight scene. Para ‘pag sinalang ka [ay] may panibagong maipapakita ka sa mga tao.”
