Revillame stands firm on his threat to resign

Controversial “Wowowee” host Willie Revillame stood by his earlier threat to resign if ABS-CBN management keeps Jobert Sucaldito as DZMM showbiz news anchor.
“I mean what I say,” Willie stressed in an interview aired on "Bandila" in the early morning of May 7.
Willie made the threat on “Wowowee” last May 4 because he was miffed by Sucaldito’s tirade against him on the latter's radio program, "Showbiz Mismo." The week prior, Sucaldito aired an allegedly negative comment over Willie’s decision to feature high school graduates who had 75% to 79% general average.
“‘Pag hindi ninyo ‘yan tinanggal, ako ang magre-resign dito sa ‘Wowowee,'” Willie said on his show on May 4.
In his "Bandila" interview, the host took another swipe at Sucaldito.
“Natatakot ka bang mawalan ng trabaho? ‘Pag magaling ka, may bilib ka sa sarili mo, ‘wag kang matakot. May kukuha sa iyo. Dapat ganoon ang prinsipyo mo sa buhay. Ba’t ka matatakot. Isa lang ba ang channel?” he said.
Willie’s on-air threat to ABS-CBN has elicited negative comments in cyberspace.
“I hope he leaves permanently!” says one disappointed person.
Another called him a swellhead. “Fame has gotten into his head!”
Still another lambasted his arrogance. “Plastic sa pagtulong, mayabang pa!”
One elderly fan came to the defense of the beleguered TV host, however.
“Hindi siya nanghihinayang kung magkano ang ibigay niya dahil talagang alam niya na kailangan ng tao ang ganoong halaga,” said a fan.
The second Willie supporter feels the same. “‘Pag naawa si Willie doon sa contestant talagang binibigyan. Maski (galing) sa bulsa niya ibinibigay.”
“Bandila” showbiz anchor Marie Lozano said that Willie had not resigned as many had speculated.
“Sabi ng production ng ‘Wowowee,’ hindi siya (Willie) nagbitiw. Nagpapahinga lang siya,” Lozano reported.
