European liner carriers Maersk Line and CMA CGM will collaborate on a big-ship Asia-Europe service starting in June, the sixth such joint loop on the trade between two of the world’s three biggest lines.

Each carrier will provide five ships on the 10-ship FAL 5 service as named by CMA CGM.

CMA CGM said the launching of its latest weekly service in the French Asia Line (FAL) 5 network linking Asia and Europe in partnership with Maersk will deploy a total of 10 vessels of 13 000 TEU of which 5 CMA CGM vessels covering the following rotation: Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Kelang, Singapore, and Ningbo.

This new service will be operating as per the slow steaming principle, thus ensuring flawless punctuality. It comes in addition to the Group’s existing 11 FAL services on the Asia-Europe route, providing optimum port coverage on this major trade and allowing CMA CGM Group to reinforce its leading position on this market.

The launching of the FAL5 service, just in time for the Westbound Peak Season, provides CMA CGM customers with a unique combination of fast transit times and optimum port coverage. The service is also connected to a wide range of in-house feeders, barges and rail services in Asia and Europe, offering door-to-door transports that allow CMA CGM to propose tailor-made solutions to its clients, said Nicolas Sartini, Senior Vice President Asia Europe Lines CMA CGM.
