Pasig City Mayor Robert “Bobby” Eusebio urged his rivals in politics to set aside political differences and join him to fulfill his vision of a more vibrant and progressive Pasig City.

Eusebio, who won a landslide victory against two of his opponents for the mayoralty race in the recently concluded elections, said that it's now time to set aside politics and start working together to provide Pasig residents better local government service.

Eusebio, at the same time, credited his victory to the outpouring of support from various sectors in Pasig City who expressed their confidence in his innovative brand of leadership and service and for his vision for Pasig City.

“I am overwhelmed by the support I have received from my fellow Pasiguenos. This has inspired me to continue to work hard to give them the service they rightfully deserve,” Eusebio said.

The mayor ran under the platform of “Serbisyo,” emphasizing a focus on arts and culture; economy, livelihood and employment; rehabilitation, housing and environment; peace and order and traffic; infrastructure; social service and good governance; education, youth and sports development; hospital and health.

Eusebio, the official candidate of the Nacionalista Party for the mayoralty race in the city, will serve for another three-year team after he was proclaimed winner in the mayoralty race by the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) last Tuesday.

Eusebio garnered a total of 206,438 votes while Ricardo Reyes, the Liberal Party's mayoralty bet, was a far second with 36,403 votes.

Meanwhile, Eusebio's running mate, incumbent Vice Mayor Rosario “Yoyong” Martires will also serve for another term after he garnered a total of 129,115 votes.

Martires’ rivals, KKK mayoralty bet Wainright Rivera was a far second with 74,856 votes, while the Liberal Party's bet for the vice mayoralty post, Abelardo Javier, was third with 26,938 votes.

In the Congressional race, incumbent Rep. Roman Romulo (LAKAS-Kampi) won by a landslide with 209,281 votes. His rival, Independent congressional candidate Francisco Rivera Jr. got 22,369 votes.

The Comelec said there are 343,567 registered voters in the city’s two districts. The city’s first district has 22 polling centers, 186 clustered precincts and 142,221 registered voters, the second district has 21 polling centers, 236 clustered precincts, and 201,346 registered voters.

As this developed, the chief of Eastern Police District (EPD) said Friday that first ever automated elections in the eastern portion of Metro Manila was generally peaceful with no major untoward incidents recorded.

Police Chief Supt. Francisco S. Manalo Jr., EPD district director, said the peaceful observance of the polls could be attributed to the well planned and executed HOPE (honest, orderly and peaceful elections) campaign of the district with the help and cooperation of the community.

Manalo said that minor problems encountered during the day of the election were mostly on the Precinct Count Optical Scan (PCOS) machines in Marikina City and some part of Pasig City which were immediately fixed.

“The success in carrying out the security measures during Monday’s first-ever automated election was a team effort and everybody deserves commendation for the job well done,” Manalo said.
