Lacson can still draw pay – Drilon
Senator Panfilo Lacson, on the lam since January while facing double murder charges arising from the Dacer-Corbito case, must surface and go through the process of posting bail or seeking his arrest warrant withdrawn by the court, former Senate President Franklin M. Drilon said Friday.
Both Drilon and Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile are in agreement that Lacson could still draw his salary as he remains a senator elected by the sovereign Filipino people.
Drilon and Enrile had served as Department of Justice (DoJ) secretary with Drilon serving under the Aquino administration and Enrile serving under the Marcos administration.
He is ranked fourth in the race for 12 senatorial slots in the May 10 national elections behind reelectionists Ramon ‘’Bong’’ Revilla Jr., Jose “Jinggoy’’ Estrada and Miriam Defensor Santiago but ahead of Enrile.
Drilon said he expects Lacson to appear from his hiding place but he has to go through the court process “if he has a pending warrant.’’
