For her brother Noynoy Aquino’s impending presidency, TV host Kris Aquino is making the ultimate sacrifice – she’s leaving her talk shows “The Buzz” and “Showbiz News Ngayon.”

Kris explained on the May 18 episode of SNN that the decision was arrived at by her family.

“Noong Sunday po bago ako pumasok sa ‘The Buzz’ napag-usapan ng pamilya namin kung ano ang mga expectations of us, especially me, pagkatapos po ni Noynoy ma-proclaim nga sa June 30, 2010. Katulong po ng mga kapatid kong babae dahil in all fairness kay Noy, hindi niya in-impose.

“Napagpasyahan po namin na for the duration of Noy’s presidency, magpapaalam po ako sa aking mga shows that can cause controversy for him. Ang ibig pong sabihin niyan, iiwan ko po ang ‘SNN’ on June 25, 2010 at ang last ‘The Buzz’ ko po is on June 27, 2010,” the Talk Show Queen shared.

But this is not to say that Kris wouldn’t be visible. She’s all poised to have an entirely new show in September.

“Hindi po nangangahulugan na wala na akong programa sa ABS-CBN. Hanggang August po ang run ng ‘Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo.’ Humingi po ako ng tatlong linggong bakasyon kasama ng aking mga anak pagkatapos ng babang-luksa ng mom in August. Pero in September po, naghahanda na sila ng mga programang angkop at babagay po sa mga pagbabago sa buhay namin.”

Kris said she’s making a great sacrifice, especially since she has gone to love her talk shows. “Sana po, lahat kayo na sumubaybay, most especially sa ‘The Buzz’—kasi eleven years nating pinagsamahan ‘yon—sana po maunawaan ninyo na hindi ko minamaliit ang programa. In fact, I love the program. It is a choice, a sacrifice I’m making kasi napakahirap po na any comment I make can be misinterpreted at kawawa naman po ang kapatid kong si Noynoy kung dahil nagpakataklita ako, eh, siya po ang magiging tagasagot pa, eh, opinyon ko naman ‘yon.”

Kris wants her brother to succeed at his first crack at the presidency.

“He will have enough problems solving everything that is a crisis here, lahat ng nagpapabigat at nagbibigay ng suliranin sa bawat Pilipino. I’m giving that to Noy. I want Noy to succeed because I gave him my entire life to help him win.”

Kris is leaving her talk shows with a heavy heart but she knows it’s her time to pay back all the good things her family showered her when she was down and out.

“Inaamin ko naman po na mahirap ‘yung naging desisyon. Malaki rin po naman ‘yong income na tatalikuran ko. Magpakatotoo tayong lahat. Pero ginagawa ko po ‘yong lahat dahil may utang na loob ako sa pamilya ko na noong binabatikos ako, sila po talaga ‘yung sumangga at talagang pinaliwanag sa sambayanang Pilipino na ‘Bakit n’yo ginaganyan si Kris? Wala naman siyang kasalanan.’

“So, ngayon, ayoko nang gumawa ng kasalanan para hindi ko na pahirapan si Ate, si Pinky, si Noynoy at si Viel. But of coure, I’ll miss all of you,” she said.

Today, May 19, Kris posted a message on her Twitter account as a rejoinder to her announcement on “SNN.” Part of the message read:

“I can still act, host a game show, judge a talent show, or finally fulfill my dream of having a lifestyle/travel show w/ a community sharing component. Life is good & I feel positive! Love love love.”
