Hot young stars of the moment, Melissa Ricks and Jake Cuenca have denied a wave of gossip saying they are heading for splitsville.

Then again, note that the two haven't even admitted to being sweethearts.

Still, Melissa gave the hullabaloo an iota of credence by actually discussing it with reporters.

“Parang uso ‘yung ganyan sa showbiz na hindi pa kayo (pero) magbe-break na," said she on “Showbiz News Ngayon,” May 18.

"Pero ang masasabi ko lang, si Jake nga is my friend. Walang 'kami' so walang pag-uusapan,” she added.

Also making a mountain out of what they both supposedly purport as 'nothing' is Jake himself who not surprisingly echoed the same saying, “We’re still just friends. Hindi pa naman nagiging kami.”

Still the rumors persist, with details to match. According to the grapevine, Melissa was quite hysterical after the break-up.

The young actress, of course, feigned disbelief over the padded facet.

“Ano ito, teleserye? Umiiyak ako tapos hinabol ko siya? Guwapo ha! Ang guwapo niya [Jake]. Hindi. Ako, hindi ako hahabol sa lalaki.”

To satisfy rumor mongers, Melissa vowed to reveal all publicly if ever she and Jake become an item.

“Wala namang reason (para) itago sa mga tao. Basta ako, nae-enjoy ko ‘yung company niya. ‘Yung parang nakakatulong kasi siya sa akin, eh,” she said without explaining how or why.

Jake, on the other hand, admitted Melissa is that one girl who can soothe his inner turmoil--whatever that means.

“Malalim akong tao. Bihira lang may isang tao na puwedeng pagaanin ang loob ko at ‘yun ang isang katangian na meron si Melissa. Kayang-kaya niyang pagaanin ang loob ko.”
