Kim Hyun Joong, the leader of five-member boy band SS501, and one of the lead stars in the hit soap, "Boys over Flowers," was hurt in a recent accident, according to his agency DSP Entertainment.

The agency confirmed that the pop idol suffered bruises and scrapes on his ribs after his car collided with another car on May 12. The report added that it would take about two weeks for Kim to fully recover.

Kim's situation only added up to the worries of the group's fans.

Issues have been hounding SS501 in the last two months after the upcoming expiration of their contract with DSP came to light.

All contracts of SS501 members are set to expire in the first week of June and there’s no word yet if they’re going to renew it or transfer to another agency.

Still, in order to make their album promotions as smooth as possible, both parties have agreed to go on with group activities even after the contract expires.

“(DSP) has considered and prepared to compensate them for the activities done after their contract expiration on June 7,” a representative of the management firm was quoted as saying.

Because of the accident, SS501 will perform only the ballad songs “Let Me Be The One” and “One Day” in the group's "Dream Concert " scheduled on May 22.

Although he is known only by a handful in the Philippines, Kim is one of Korea’s most popular celebrities. His appearance on the hit drama series “Boys over Flowers” last year boosted his career.
