Metro water supply safe for drinking – Maynilad
Maynilad assured its consumers Wednesday that water supply in the areas it is servicing is safe for drinking after having received 100 percent satisfactory compliance rating of 100 percent from the Metro Manila Drinking Water Quality Monitoring Committee (MMDWQMC) in the first three months of the year.
To maintain public safety, the MMDWQMC conducts monthly water sampling sessions in more than 800 points of Maynilad’s concessions area to detect the possibility of the presence of bacteria that may be harmful to the consumers.
In its latest findings, the MMDWQMC said that the high marks obtained by Maynilad assure the water firm’s clients that the water supplied by the company is safe and fit for human consumption.
The samples undergo strict bacteriological, physical and chemical examination to ensure that the water meets the Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) of the Department of Health (DoH).
The MMDWQMC is composed of representatives from DoH – Center for Health Development – Metro Manila, DoH-National Center for Health Facility Development, Manila Health Department – Public Health Laboratory, Marikina Clean Food Laboratory, Makati Health Department, Pasay City Health Department, Parañaque City Health Department, Quezon City Health Department, Las Piñas Integrated District Hospital Laboratory, Environmental Management Bureau, Ayala Waterworks, MWSS Regulatory Office, Maynilad Water Services Inc. and Manila Water Company Inc.
