Charice’s version of Bieber hit triggers ‘hate posts’

Charice Pempengco may have proven her talent in pop-rap via her own YouTube version of Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” But the effort did not exempt the “Pyramid” singer from a string of nasty posts from faithful Bieber fans after Perez Hilton posted the music video on his controversial site.
After launching her international debut album on “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and conquering the US Billboard, Charice recorded “Baby” and dedicated it to Hollywood celebrity blogger Perez Hilton and his dog Teddy. Obviously flattered by Charice’s efforts, Hilton posted it on his blog (www.PerezHilton.com) on May 12 with this blurb: “Charice Covers Bieber! Makes Baby Her Own! Kills It!”
In his blog, Hilton further wrote: “Wow. Wow. Wow. THIS is truly spectacular! You’ve seen her on Oprah. And she was on just this week with Justin Bieber. Now, Charice sends exclusively to PerezHilton.com – with a special intro to Perez and Teddy Hilton – a very special song. The Philippine singing sensation does her own take on Bieber’s Baby and we LOVE it! She can SING, naturally. But we even love her rap/breakdown towards the end! Awesome! Awesome! Awesome! Great job Charice!”
The rap part Charice did was originally done by rapper Ludacris. She obviously did great as the page had over 200 comments all cheering Charice for another feat.
One comment wrote: “Wow, she’s really talented! I like her version of the song much better than Bieber’s!”
However, Charice could not please everybody. As much as there were praises for her version, others despised it and thought it was annoying. One post read: “An Internet phenom imitating an internet phenom…shocking!” Still, another said: “# 1– she’s not a celebrity. # 2 – this is supposed to be a celebrity gossip website.”
But, there is no reason for Charice to weep because Hollywood’s newly crowned Pop Princess has a lot of supporters who are willing to fight for her. Another fan commented, “all you haters make me laugh. You think there’s alot of people better than her? Ha. Have you even seen her other performances? When she belts out ‘I Will Always Love You’ and ‘I Have Nothing?,’ Better than Whitney herself with EASE. She has appeared on ‘Oprah’ 4 or 5 times BEFORE her album even came out and Oprah calls her ‘the most talented girl in the world.’ Had a duet with Celine Dion and many other famous artists. That is just a few of the things she has accomplished. So before you wanna talk crap, do your research. I am ashamed to live in the same country as some of you.”
