Manila Bulletin Lifestyle Editor Isabel de Leon has been named “Media Personality of the Year for Print” by a prestigious group involved in Philippine tourism and travel industry.

De Leon is one of seven personalities chosen by SKAL Makati for its 21st Tourism Personality Awards.

The other awardees are Camarines Sur Gov. Luis Raymund Villafuerte Jr. (“Local Government Personality of the Year”), Puerto Princessa City Mayor Edward Hagedorn (“Environment Personality of the Year”) Rosvi Gaetos, deputy executive director of the Philippine Convention and Visitors Corporation (“Government Personality of the Year”), PAL Senior Vice President for Mindanao Atty. Domingo Duerme (“Airline Personality of the Year”), Joannes Rudolf Hauri, general manager of Marco Polo Plaza Cebu (“Hotel Personality of the Year”), Romeo Jalosjos, owner of Dakak Park & Beach Resort (“Resort Personality of the Year”), and Maria Soledad Barria, managing director of Marist Royal Holiday (“Travel & Tour Operator Personality of the Year”).

SKAL Makati director and chair of this year’s Awards Organizing Committee, PAL president and CEO Jaime Bautista said the awardees will be honored on May 28 during the 39th SKAL Asian Congress in Cebu City.

The SKAL International Makati, now on its 21st year, gives due recognition to tourism personalities who have lived up and contributed to the growth of the Philippine tourism and travel industry.

Over 200 foreign and local SKAL members are expected to attend the four-day event, from May 27 to 30, 2010 at the Marco Polo Hotel in Cebu City.
