Militant transport group Pinag-isang Samahan ng Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (PISTON) urged the president-in-waiting, Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III to be wary of placing people identified with the Arroyo administration in key positions in the transport sector.

PISTON secretary general George San Mateo said that President Arroyo’s supporters should not be given positions in the Department of Transportation and Communications (DoTC), the Land  Transportation Regulatory and Franchising Board, and the Land Transportation Office.

San Mateo said that his group would vehemently oppose giving posts in the new government to people identified with Arroyo.

He mentioned 1-UTAK representative Vigor Mendoza as one of the foremost allies of the Arroyo administration that Aquino should be wary of.

“Mendoza dreams of becoming DoTC chief for the longest time,” San Mateo said.

“And aside from 1-UTAK, Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) and Land Transportation Organization of the Philippines (LTOP) have not been partial to operators and drivers.
