The Commission on Elections (Comelec) said Friday that they already know the person behind ‘koala bear”.

“We already know who is behind koala boy. He is a losing candidate,” Comelec Spokesperson James Jimenez said.

Jimenez said that based on the initial reports that they received from several government agencies point to a “losing presidential candidate” as the mastermind behind the masked man nicknamed by Congressman Teddy Boy Locsin as a koala bear.

“The information is still very, very difficult to substantiate but we trust our sources,” said Jimenez.

He said that at present, they are still verifying the identity of the individual. Asked what they will do if they find out who engineered the masked man's revelation, Jimenez said that the mastermind will face sanctions for undermining the credibility of the elections.

The poll official said: “One thing is for sure the mastermind is out to discredit the elections.’’
