The juicy way to better skin

Organic. The word has come to be used in almost every market and by almost every industry, albeit loosely. The ambiguous term has become synonymous with wellbeing, green living, and eco-friendliness which has lately grown its own cult following. From apples on a shelf in the supermarket to cleaning detergents, the title has been pegged to a plethora of products. Its blurriness lies in the widely interpretive definition it has. Anything can be organic as long as it is a product of living things or if it was made naturally or “non-artificially.”

Touted to be “The Organic Solution,” Juice Beauty delivers skin care concoctions that are products of nature’s finest. At the heart of every mist, moisturizer, and milk is a mixture of fruit juices that promise all the results that we’ve become used to. Clinically validated, free radical skin cell damage was reduced by 85 percent through the use of naturally occurring alpha lipoic acid (an antioxidant), dimethylaminoethanol (or DMAE, which is proven to help keep skin tight and prevent facial sag), and peptides (which is present in numerous face creams because of their key role in collagen production). What does the biochemistry lesson mean to us? These and the other numerous ingredients equate to less wrinkles and evenly toned skin.

“We at Juice Beauty recognize that most of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstreams. Karen Behnke, the lady behind the company, was pregnant when she started thinking about all the chemicals she was putting on her skin,” explains Juice Beauty’s global marketing and sales manager Alaina Thompson, who flew in from the company’s home in sunny California. It wasn’t long after this revelation that Juice Beauty was launched. Since then, its products have received places in numerous “best of beauty” lists.

Juice Beauty’s launching point, especially for those just beginning with the brand, is its Core Skincare Collection with products ranging from cleansing milks and gels to serums, moisturizers, and concentrates. Categorized into steps, the products are grouped to cleanse, to treat, to moisturize, and to protect. Juices from cherries, grapes, raspberries, and aloe vera are layered to create effective and healthy doses of all the essential vitamins and minerals that help the skin to function at its peak.

One of its newer lines, the Green Apple Skincare Collection, utilizes the natural antioxidants present in the tart fruit to solve every woman’s problem of aging skin. One of the unique products of this line is the Green Apple Peel, which has raw cane sugar and white willow bark to exfoliate the skin. A celeb favorite, fan Kate Hudson picked this product up on a whim and has never let it go since.

While its local popularity remains under the radar, Juice Beauty’s imminent  introduction of its makeup and beauty products, Thompson hopes, will help launch them into the Manila spotlight. According to her, they “will have mineral foundations that will come in three shades. Because they go on a bit sheer, they should blend well with Asian skin tones.” The company will be bringing lip colors and blushes as well.

Juice Beauty can be found exclusively at all Beauty Bar stores nationwide.
