Incheon Airport remains in Cloud 9

Being the global leader of International Airports for five consecutive years has not slowed down South Korea’s Incheon International Airport in improving their services for tourists. Incheon Airport, together with Korean Air, is one of the reasons why Korea has been among the top tourist destinations in Asia.
Inspired by the success of Koreanovelas and curiosity of the Korean culture, Filipinos are among the international tourists who have been frequenting the lovely country.
“Filipino tourists have been one of the reasons why we maintained our good numbers amidst the economic crisis. The Filipinos form 60 percent of our passengers and are among the top international tourists in the country,” expressed Kim Seong Il, Deputy General Manager of Korean Air in the Philippines.
Incheon International Airport has worked closely with Korean Air in providing a memorable Korean experience for the large number of tourists visiting the country.
“Our airline has the most number of frequencies to other countries here in the country. Korean Air has been bringing Filipinos not only to Korea but to other countries as well. Our Filipino passengers enjoy the warmth of our crew and staff as well as experience the unique Korean experience during their trip,” added Kim Seong Il.
Tourists are immediately awed at the beauty of South Korea upon arriving at the world’s best airport. Incheon International Airport provides the initial window and gateway to the wonders of Korea. The airport has recently received its fifth consecutive award for being the Best Airport Worldwide by the Airport Council International.
“Being recognized as the top airport in the world for five consecutive years is a testament to our world class service. But we are always looking for ways to improve our services and how we can provide a better experience for coming tourists, which I think is one of the reasons why we continuously strive to be the global leader of International Airports,” said Chang-Gyu Park, Group Executive Director of Terminal Operations and Aviation Marketing of Incheon International Airport.
The top of the line airport has recently finished phase two and three of the development process of the airport. The development in the already impressive airport aims to provide a faster and easier way of aviation travel for tourists.
“With recent developments and our advanced technology, we can bring transfer passengers as fast as 15 minutes to the other gates to prepare them for their next destination. We are the most convenient and worry-free airport. This is largely because of our passion to serve tourists better by giving importance to their comments and suggestions,” elaborated Park.
South Korea’s airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in Asia. The airport processes 30 million passengers a year as well as 220,000 flights. The hub serves as home to 60 airlines and links tourists to 170 destinations worldwide.
The airport also proves to be quite a handful in terms of shopping experience. Incheon Airport has 70 shops which offer 400 refined items for duty-free shopping experience for tourists. There are also 70-fine dining restaurants with a wide selection of cuisine for tourists from all over the world.
The recently completed development in the airport includes a 4,000m-runway and a concourse with 30 gates. The one-of-a-kind airport is currently equipped with three runways and 183 gates to boost traffic growth. The development increased Incheon Airport’s capacity to 410,000 flights a year and will be able to handle 44 million passengers a year.
“We are proud to be the world leader in terms of airport service and advancement. Previously, it was always the European countries that had the best airports and now they are coming to us for ideas in developing their airports,” claimed Park.
Incheon International Airport has provided countries such as Russia and Iraq with suggestions for developing modern airports. Currently, there are plans to bring their expertise to the Philippines.
Park said, “Right now we are looking forward to helping the airports in the Philippines. We are currently working on plans for improving Cebu, Clark, and Caticlan airports here in the Philippines.”
