EU sees ‘encouraging signals’ from Noynoy

Representatives of the European Union (EU) expressed on Tuesday their belief that they see “very encouraging signals” from presidential front-runner Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III in his future plans for building and rebuilding trust in business, and how to attract investors into the country saying that they are really convinced that “within this environment Filipinos will also find solution for the glitches in the residual dust from the past.”

“I think we are always bullish about the Philippines. We very much value the close relations we have with the Philippines and we are very eager to see the relations strengthen even further in the years ahead,” EU delegation head Alistair Macdonald said after a courtesy call to Aquino at his residence in Times Street Quezon City.

According to Aquino, to help investors set up shop in the country, his administration will put up an increased one-stop shop aspect that will deal with all these problems with red tape, which has been the primary complaint of foreign businessmen.

“We will also try to embark on policies that are not changeable every so often. There has to be certainty when businessmen come in and commit, there is a reasonable chance they will make a profit, which doesn’t exist if the environment keeps on changing. So we have identified that problem, we are working to minimize if not eliminate the said problem,” Aquino stressed. (Roy Mabasa)
