‘Noynoy’ begins 5-day vacation

Anticipating a stressful life in the next six years, President-apparent Senator Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III managed to squeeze into his already-tight schedule a five-day vacation, starting Tuesday.
It was the first time that the 50-year-old lawmaker took a “longer hiatus“ unhampered by meetings since he was placed in the limelight as spokesperson of their family when his mother, former President Corazon “Cory” Aquino, died of colon cancer last August 1.
The media continued to keep an eye on the senator as the public’s outpouring of grief over his mother’s passing gave birth to the clamor for him to seek the presidency and continue the legacy of his parents.
Because of his consistent lead in the presidential race in both the manual count and official canvassing, the senator continues to enjoy—and endure—media attention now that he is poised to take the helm of Malacanang come June 30.
“I may have had a two-day break each during Christmas and Holy Week but it could not be compared with what I’ll be having starting midnight tonight because this one will be in preparation for a life full of pressure that I will be living in the next six years,” he told reporters in a press conference at his residence at 25 Times Street in West Triangle, Quezon City last Monday.
But contrary to public expectations, Aquino said he is not spending his vacation with his sisters and their families or his girlfriend, Valenzuela City Councilor Shalani Soledad, stressing that he will enjoy his time off with his “books, DVDs and CDs,” accompanied by his security staff.
“I will be with my security primarily. I’ll be in the company of my books, newly-bought but old DVDs and CDs like Marigold in the House Volume 3 and Acoustic Volumes 1 to 4. I will also try squeeze in some physical fitness regimen in those days,” the senator added.
Despite media’s prodding, Aquino refused to name the place where he will spend his vacation.
