The Commission on Elections (Comelec) has extended the filing of the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures up to June 24.

Comelec Commissioner Rene Sarmiento in an interview said the commission en banc already approved the request of the Akbayan party-list to delay the deadline of the filing for at least 15 days.

"This resolution is now being prepared by the Comelec to be signed by the chairman and the commissioners for the granting of the extension," he said.

Sarmiento noted that it was not only Akbayan who made the request for an extension but other party-list groups as well.

He said the concerned parties are now being informed of the decision of the commission en banc.

As of Wednesday, candidates who have already filed their respective statements are president-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III, losing presidential candidates Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro (Lakas-Kampi-CMD), Sen. Manuel "Manny" Villar (Nacionalista Party), and Sen. Jamby Madrigal (Independent).

Other candidates who already filed are vice presidential aspirants Perfecto Yasay (Bangon Pilipinas Party) and Sen. Loren Legarda (Nationalist People's Coalition).
