NPD’s anti-criminality drive yields 151 persons
The intensified anti-criminality police operations conducted by the Northern Police District (NPD) in the Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, and Valenzuela (CAMANAVA) area yielded about 151 persons allegedly involved in various crimes, a Northern Police District (NPD) police official said.
NPD director, Chief Supt. Samuel Pagdilao, Jr., said the police operations which was made last May 2010, also resulted in the recovery of at least nine firearms from the groups.
Citing the NPD consolidated report for the month of May, Pagdilao said that NPD police stations and support units' drive against street criminals, illegal drug suspects, organized crime groups and wanted persons have achieved most of their targets.
He said NPD operatives have arrested 24 persons linked to illegal drugs, three of which are drug pushers. They also confiscated some 1.38 grams of illegal drugs amounting to P5,935.25. About 18 cases of illegal drugs cases were filed in different courts, he said.
The report also stated that out of the 255 barangays in CAMANAVA, only 31 allegedly drug-affected barangays are left for clearing by the police.
Pagdilao directed the District Anti-Illegal Drugs operatives to make more arrests against those involved in illegal drugs even as he directed other police community relations branch policemen of NPD's police station to work proactively to harness the participation of the community in clearing their places of illegal drug menace.
Also last May, Pagdilao said the NPD police claimed that they were able to neutralize nine organized crime groups, and arrest 19 suspects including eight gang leaders.
These groups were identified as, Esmeralda Tomajar Robbery Group; the Rafael Canillas Robbery Gang; Jeffrey delos Angeles Robbery Gang; and Roger Mapa Robbery Gang in Caloocan City; Christopher Dela Cruz Robbery Gang; Willam Cabanog Robbery Hold-up Gang in Navotas City; Allan Gonzales Gang allegedly involved in the theft of 57 meters telephone wire; the Canares Bolt Cutter Gang and the Armando Reyes Robbery Hold-up Group in Valenzuela.
Some 95 persons with standing warrant of arrests were also arrested during the same period, the report said.
Pagdilao also said the overall anti-street crime drive in CAMANAVA area also netted 13 persons, most of them allegedly involved in robbery-snatching and hold-up.
Police identified them as Rolando Sopeng Sico; Ronnel Gerardo; Albert Manzano Aguilar alias Lalay; Sonny Berzon; Jervey Dilag; Joseph Salientes; Peter Labrador, Jomar Valentino, Randy Dunzal, Jeffrey Delos Reyes, Edmari Macayero and Carl Baron and Armando Reyes.
Police report also said that of the 69 incidents of street crimes in CAMANAVA last month, 35 of the robbery in the streets were allegedly perpetrated by "tutok-kalawit" gang.
