Movie producer Lily “Mother Lily” Monteverde will be appointed chair of the Optical Media Board (OMB) while Grace Poe, daughter of the late action king Fernando Poe Jr., will become chief movie and television censor, sources close to the camp of President-elect Benigno Simeon C. Aquino III said.

Aquino neither confirm nor deny the reports. However, he revealed meeting with Manila Electric Company (Meralco) president and chief operating officer Jose “Ping” de Jesus last Thursday. He said their meeting was “productive” but declined to identify the post that the former secretary of Public Works and Highways will assume under his administration.

“It will be announced at the appropriate time,” Aquino told reporters when asked what position he offered de Jesus in an interview at his residence at 25 Times Street in suburban West Triangle in Quezon City last Thursday.

Sources, however, said that De Jesus is likely to be appointed secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication (DoTC).

“All Cabinet positions with secretaries are not yet handled. There are some who have the track record but to specifically avoid the issue of regulatory capture, the appointees will not be coming from the industry they have supervisory and regulatory powers on,” Aquino said.

Aquino nevertheless confirmed that there will be a lot of new faces in his official family. Their names will be announced shortly before his inauguration as the 15th President of the Republic at noon of June 30.

So far, the confirmed Aquino Cabinet men are Paquito “Jojo” Ochoa, Executive Secretary; Edwin Lacierda, Palace Spokesperson; Corazon “Dinky” Soliman, Secretary of the Department of Social Welfare and Development; and Teresita “Ging” Deles, Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process.
