España raised half a meter
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has defied the odds in completing the rehabilitation of España Boulevard in Manila in time for the opening of classes on Tuesday.
DPWH director Edilberto Tayao said the six lanes of España Boulevard on both directions will be passable to all types of vehicles starting Monday (June 14) to normalize the flow of traffic to and from Manila.
“Our target date for its completion is by August (under the contract) but we were able to finish it ahead of schedule,” said Tayao, who supervises DPWH projects in Metro Manila, in an interview.
The DPWH spent R38 million for the upgrading and concreting of a segment of the road 550 linear meters from Morayta to Lacson Street. Part of the project was the improvement of the drainage system, curb, and gutters.
