The militant transport group Pinag-isang Samahan ng mga Tsuper at Opereytor Nationwide (PISTON) expressed Tuesday its disappointment over the “stingy” price rollbacks of major oil firms on their petroleum products as announced on Monday night.

PISTON secretary general George San Mateo said the reduction by P0.50 per liter on gasoline prices and P0.25 per liter on diesel and kerosene prices is not yet enough to ease the transport sector’s burden.

“Last June 8, oil companies raised their pump prices by P1. Why couldn’t they slash pump prices by P1, too? It’s clear that the oil cartel’s goal is just at profiteering. They don’t care about us,” he pointed out.

San Mateo added that the latest round of rollback is not in any way significant to drivers and operators.

“Someone should really look into the overpricing of oil products brought about by the nine years of the Arroyo administration,” he said.
