KC Concepcion cool with Sharon’s no-show in movie premiere

Mega-daughter KC Concepcion doesn’t take it against her mother Sharon Cuneta for being absent at the premiere night of the former's movie with dad Gabby Concepcion, “I’ll Be There,” on June 15.
“Nabigay naman niya ‘yong dalawang episodes ng show niya (‘Sharon’) for us, so that was more than enough support, and I'd like to thank Mama…for allowing us to guest on [her] show,” KC told the Philippine Entertainment Portal in an interview.
On June 13, KC together with Gabby appeared as guests on Sharon’s evening variety talk show. It marked another onscreen reunion for the ex-couple and popular 80s love team.
Recall that the two briefly shared a scene on the big screen via Gabby’s surprise cameo appearance in the film “Best Friends Forever (BFF).”
The young actress revealed Sharon would only do a movie with her following a Gabby-KC film.
“[Ang sabi niya] 'Unahin mo ‘yong sa Papa mo. Ihuli mo ‘yong sa 'kin para save the best for last,’” she related.
Gabby, who was also present during the interview, playfully butted in and said, “Save the best for last? E, di kami ‘yon [ng Mama mo]!"
And should there be an “I’ll Be There” part two, Gabby supposes, “Malamang kasama na siya (Sharon) dun!"
That said, KC admitted she is not ready to do a movie with her Megastar mother just yet.
“Siya [kasi] ang nagpalaki sa akin. Mas magiging challenging pa para sa akin siguro ‘yon and in the business, she is the best. Siguro manenerbiyos talaga ako nang todo,” she said.
In a separate interview with ABS-CBN, KC was asked to compare her biological father Gabby and stepdad (Sharon’s husband) Kiko Pangilinan.
The “Simply KC” host said that she owes a lot to Kiko, who served as a father figure to her since she was 11 years old.
“Marami na ring nangyari sa mga taon na ‘yon. Siya ‘yong nagdidisiplina sa akin. Sa tingin ko mas strikto [siya] at siya ‘yong tumulong sa akin sa school at tinuruan niya ako ng maraming bagay,” KC related.
Nevertheless, she confessed that all those years, she still longed for her real dad, whom she did not see for 13 years.
“May mga bagay na lagi mong hahanapin [kasama na] kung sino ‘yong magulang na nalayo sa ‘yo,” she related.
Having two fathers in her life is something KC finds difficult to balance.
“Siyempre ayoko rin na may masaktan or 'mas may time ka dito kaysa doon sa isa.' Medyo mahirap lang ho talaga na balansehin ‘yon kasi nasa gitna po ako na parang ping-pong. But magkaiba po silang tao. Parehong busy, parehong may responsibilidad. Pero my dad is dad and my papa is papa,” she said.
For his part, Gabby said he has received “the best Father’s Day gift that a father can be thankful for”: his first movie with his daughter.
"Siya ang dahilan kung bakit namin ginawa ang pelikula na ito. Siya ang nag-request nito,” he said.
